Addressing environmental, social, and governance issues

Just as we do with our medical technology innovations, we continually explore, develop, measure, and test our impact on the planet we share and the people we share it with. We are driven to improve how we serve patients, our communities, and the environment.



Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies is one of three companies comprising the Terumo Corporation (TSE: 4543) based in Tokyo, Japan. We align our ESG priorities, strategies, and processes with Terumo Corporation’s sustainability vision. The group’s leadership and support allow us to deepen our impact while we continue to localize our sustainability efforts.

ESG in action: Fiscal year 2023 highlights

  • Recruitment of an ESG Director and an ESG Manager
  • Creation of a cross-functional ESG Advisory Committee
  • Publication of a carbon reduction plan
  • Development of our preliminary global greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory
  • Reduction of air freight to approximately 3% of total logistics spend — a 92% reduction
  • Installation of solar panels at our Vietnam manufacturing site
  • Formation of the Patient Access Team, a cross-functional group focused on overcoming barriers to patient care
